CHICAGO — A Danville man died this week after he was shot in May 2013 in the city's Washington Heights neighborhood.
Maurice Wooden, 51, died at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday at Kindred Hospital in Chicago, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Officials there said Wooden, of Danville, located in the eastern part of the state, died from complications from a shooting last year.
About 1:30 p.m. on May 20, 2013, police responded to calls of shots fired in the 9600 block of South Halsted Street, police said.
Officers found Wooden, then 50-years-old, lying on the floor inside a home on the block. He had been shot in his neck, shoulder and torso.
Police said an unknown gunman had kicked in the door of the home, shot Wooden repeatedly and then fled the scene. Wooden was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
As of Friday, no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, police said.
