Things to Do in Lincoln Park and Old Town This Weekend

Friday

Big Paraid at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 8 p.m.

Shoeshine Boy presents the aggressive pop trio from Chicago, Big Paraid, along with Blood Red Boots, Molehill, Tanks & Guns and Frey Geoffreux. Tickets to the 18-and-over show are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

LoCash Cowboys at Joe's on Weed Street, 940 W. Weed Street, 7:45 p.m.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for the LoCash Cowboys, who recently released their powerhouse indie album. They'll perform with Zach Dubois and Rebecca Henn. Tickets for the 21-and-over show are $10.

Arden Myrin at Zanies, 1548 N. Wells St., 8:30 p.m.

Arden Myrin has appeared more than 100 times on "Chelsea Lately," was a cast member on "Saturday Night Live" for four years and has recently appeared in the Netflix original series "Orange is the New Black." Tickets for the show are $25 with the minimum purchase of two food or beverage items.

Saturday

Plant and Tree ID for Beginners at Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Drive, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Learn to correctly identify common trees and plants in our region as part of the Urban Nature for Beginners series. Participants will take home resources to continue their exploration of nature. The class is suited for adults or families with children 7 and older.

HOPEFEST at Park West, 322 W. Armitage Ave., 8 p.m.

Hopefest 2014 features the Old 97's performing at the benefit concert for the Chicago Coalition of the Homeless. The event will also feature a silent and a live auction. General Admission tickets are $30 and VIP tickets are $75. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show is for those 18 and older unless accompanied by an adult.

The Gonzo Tour at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 9 p.m.

Foxy Shazam introduces a new chapter in their rule-breaking career as they expose their progress with their most groundbreaking album "Gonzo." The tour stops at Lincoln Hall and features special guest Larry and his Flask for an 18-and-older show. Tickets to the concert are $20.

Sunday

Swans at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 8 p.m.

Chirp welcomes Swans, the band led by Michael Gira that was formed in 1982, disbanded in 1997 and returned with two critically acclaimed albums in the last four years. The 21-and-older show also features Xiu Xiu. Tickets for the show are $25.
