Auburn Gresham Shooting Leaves Teen, 16, Injured

CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was shot in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood Friday afternoon, police said.

About 1:10 p.m., the teen was in the 500 block of West 81st Street when he was shot in his leg, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman, citing preliminary information.

The boy was taken to St. Bernard Hospital where his condition stabilized, Pacheco said.

Details surrounding the shooting were not immediately available, but police said the boy is a documented gang member.

No one was in custody as of Friday afternoon, police said.
