UPTOWN — With help from the actors behind the fast-food chain's iconic "Two Guys" advertising campaign, Sonic Drive-In plans to throw Uptown a block party Saturday to celebrate its opening and bring in the summer.

Giveaways, prizes and face painting and balloons for kids are some of the activities slated from noon-4 p.m. at the Sonic at 1022 W. Wilson Ave., according to a release.

Fans of the Two Guys, actors Peter Grosz and T.J. Jagodowski, will also have the chance to take photos with the duo next to a 1955 Chevrolet Bel-Air — a nod to Sonic's early days.

“For years the community has seen our iconic Two Guys commercials, and now they will finally have the chance to meet them at the block party and enjoy the Sonic experience with them in person,” Sonic franchisee Seth Wolken said in a statement.

“We received a tremendous turnout for our grand opening event last month, and we are expecting an even larger turnout for the block party and couldn’t be more excited.”

Sonic said that since opening in May, its Uptown location "has recorded roughly two and a half times the sales volume of other area Sonics, and is on track to become the most profitable drive-in in the area."
