Teen Shot to Death in East Garfield Park

CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy died Sunday morning after being shot in East Garfield Park, authorities said.

Around 12:04 a.m., the teen was walking with a group in the 3100 block of West Polk Street when some opened fire, striking him in the chest and left leg, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Officer Ron Gaines.

Brandon Peterson, of the 3000 block of West Polk Street, was pronounced dead at 12:26 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
