CHICAGO — At least five people were injured in separate shootings on the South and West sides Thursday, police said.
About 11:20 a.m., in the 6800 block of South Paulina Avenue in West Englewood, a man was found shot inside a residence, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman. He had been shot in the back.
Sullivan said the man, whose age was unknown, was "extremely uncooperative" when asked how he came to be shot, and was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
In Brainerd, in the 9400 block of South Ada Avenue about 11:45, a 20-year-old man was shot in his left side and torso, police said. He took himself to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was in serious condition. Police said the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic incident.
In Roseland, a man, 18, was shot in the 9900 block of South Martin Luther King Drive about noon, police said, citing preliminary information.
He was shot in the back and the head, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. His condition was unknown.
Area South detectives are investigating.
A 56-year-old man was shot in the back about 1:45 in the 2300 block of West 72nd Street, police said. He was taken in serious condition to an area hospital.
About 2:45, in the 2500 block of West 38th Street, a juvenile male was shot in his face, and taken to an Mount Sinai, police said. Area Central detectives are investigating the possible drive-by shooting.
