BURNSIDE — Chatham Academy High School will sponsor an outdoor festival as the school year ends this week for its students.

The free event runs from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday outside the charter school at 9035 S. Langley Ave. Organizers say food, music and live entertainment will be provided. Its purpose is to celebrate another school year with local residents.

Guest speakers include mayoral candidate Amara Enyia, an East Garfield Park resident and entrepreneur, who said she plans to speak to students about how she plans to improve education if elected next year.

“Chicago’s children and families deserve the best-equipped public schools and the best-trained teachers in the world,” Enyia said. “That’s why saving our schools and restoring the democratic values at the heart of public education has become a challenge for Chicago.”
