CHICAGO — Wicker Park residents may soon notice a London-style apothecary popping up on Milwaukee Avenue.

But don't expect to find any sort of medicine or tonic there, except for a gin and tonic.

The storefront at 1336 N. Milwaukee Ave. will be transformed into the "Emporium of the Unusual" from Wednesday through June 13.

The event, hosted by Hendrick's Gin, will feature a number of "tipples," or drinks, from the Scottish Gin company as well as "an unusual cast of characters with equally peculiar tricks."

The brand, known for its unusual marketing, hosted a similar event in Chicago in 2012. That presentation, held at Salvage One in West Town, featured en explorer's lounge, a botanist's den and an apothecary. A botanist gave talks on the 11 plants that are used in gin and a cocktail-making class was presented.

This year's event is free, but guests must reserve an hour time slot to come to the emporium.

The emporium will run from 5-11 p.m. each day. Guests will receive two tokens to redeem for cocktails and then can explore the emporium's "assemblage of curiosities for the mind and palate."
