MUSEUM CAMPUS — Pint-sized future scientists should keep their schedules free Friday for the Adler Planetarium's "Astro-Overnight."
Partnering with the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge, the planetarium will provide budding astronomers ages 6 to 10 (and their guardians) with a lock-in experience that includes access to exhibits, telescope observations, sky shows and a hand-picked reading list of science-focused Scholastic titles.
Activities are scheduled from 5:30-11 p.m., with breakfast served at 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
Kids will have the opportunity to participate in the educational publishing company's initiative to set a world record for "Reading Under the Stars," tallying the number of minutes participants read from May 5 to Sept. 5.
As readers hit page-count milestones, they're eligible for prizes through the summer reading program.
Overnight tickets are $60 per person or $55 per member, or for participants in groups of 15 or more. Staying for just the evening? Reduced pricing for guests who don't sleep over is $27.50 per person, $25 for members or groups.
