Man Charged in North Lawndale Homicide

CHICAGO — A Homan Square man was charged Thursday in connection with a shooting that killed a man in North Lawndale Tuesday.

Jerome Lofton, 32, of the 3700 block of West Polk Street, was charged with first-degree murder for the killing of 21-year-old Darrien Jordan.

Jordan was shot in the abdomen in the 3900 block of West Grenshaw Street about 1:30 p.m Tuesday, police said. He was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4 p.m., authorities said.

Lofton, who was arrested Tuesday, is due in court June 10, police said.
