CHICAGO — Cyclists can enjoy the first real weekend of summer without having to face the heat during an early morning bike ride June 22, a day after the summer solstice.

The 25-mile L.A.T.E. Ride starts at 1 a.m. at Buckingham Fountain, 301 S. Columbus Dr. The cyclists' route goes through more than 12 neighborhoods — including Chinatown, Little Italy, Greektown, Wicker Park, Humboldt Park, Logan Square and North Center — and along the lakefront.

Participants will rest at Humboldt Park, where there will be a live band and snack. Once ending back at Buckingham Fountain, cyclists can have breakfast for $12 if purchased in advance or $15 if purchased on-site.

Registration is $50 until midnight June 18, or $50 on-site but without a complimentary glow-in-the-dark T-shirt. Participants may register online.

This is L.A.T.E. Ride's 26th anniversary.
