CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was shot in the Logan Square neighborhood Monday night, police said.

About 7:45 p.m. Monday, the man was standing in an alley near the 2500 block of North Lawndale Avenue when someone inside a passing vehicle opened fire, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The 22-year-old was hit in his side and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, Gaines said.

Police said the man was a documented gang member. No one was in custody as of early Tuesday morning.
