Six Killed, 23 Wounded in Weekend Shootings

CHICAGO — Six people were killed, and 23 people were wounded in shootings over the weekend.

The most recent homicide was about 10 p.m. Sunday when Erik Kall, 27, was shot to death in Chicago Lawn, police said.

Around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, Denero Appleton, 31, was fatally shot in the Jeffrey Manor neighborhood on the city's South Side, police said.

In nonfatal shootings:

• Around 2:10 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot during a robbery in the 1200 block West 93rd Street in the Brainerd neighborhood, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

Police said someone approached the man and began to rob him as he was getting out of his car. The man handed over his cellphone, and the robber shot him in his foot. He was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition.

• Around 1:55 a.m. Monday, a 28-year-old man was shot in his leg in the 4300 block of West 15th Street in North Lawndale. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, Gaines said.

• Around 7:40 p.m. Sunday, a 15-year-old boy was shot in his head in the 100 block of East 37th Street in Bronzeville. He was taken to Comer Children Hospital in serious condition, Gaines said.

• Around 8 p.m., two people were shot in Austin. The two were standing with a group in the 400 block of South Lotus Avenue when a car pulled up and someone inside opened fire, Gaines said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in his chest, and a 35-year-old man was shot in his arm. Both were taken to Loretto Hospital in good condition, Gaines said.

From Saturday night into Sunday, three people were killed and 16 others were wounded in shootings.

Saturday, McArthur Swindle, a rapper and a cousin of Def Jam rapper Lil Durk was shot to death in Chatham.

Overnight Friday, two people were shot in separate incidents in Albany Park.
