CHICAGO — Five people were hospitalized after South Side shootings overnight stretching from Chicago Lawn to the South Shore.

In the most recent shooting, a 21-year-old man was shot a parking lot in the 5400 block of South Wentworth Avenue in Washington Park. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition after being shot in his leg, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

About 20 minutes before midnight, another 21-year-old man was shot in his back and face in South Shore. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital in stable condition. The shooting occurred around 11:42 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Escanaba Avenue, Gaines said.

Around 8:35 p.m., two people were shot walking in the 1300 block of West 91st Street in Brained in a possibly gang-related shooting. A 20-year-old man was shot in his back and a 23-year-old man was shot in his leg. Both victims were taken to Christ Hospital in stable condition, Gaines said.

Around 7:52 p.m. Wednesday, a 20-year-old man was shot in his stomach in Chicago Lawn. The man was walking in the 6000 block of South Francisco Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in an unknown condition, Gaines said.

Earlier Thursday, two people were shot in separate shootings in Austin and Englewood.
