Overnight Shootings Leave Two Dead, Five Wounded

CHICAGO — Five people are hospitalized and two men are dead after several shootings overnight.

In the most recent shooting, a 25-year-old man was fatally shot in South Austin, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman.

Lance Stanton, of the 5400 block of West Haddon Street was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 1:36 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police responded to a call of shots fired shortly after 1 a.m. and found Stanton, who was a documented gang member, with multiple gunshot wounds on the sidewalk, Sullivan said.

Around the same time, a 25-year-old woman was shot in Lincoln Park and refused medical attention, police said.

About 9:45 p.m. Sunday, three people were shot including two teens and a 25-year-old man in a drive-by in Woodlawn, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The trio was standing in the 1500 block of East 62nd Street when shots were fired from a passing vehicle, Greer said. A 16-year-old boy was grazed in his chest and the 25-year-old man was shot in his buttocks. Both were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, said Greer.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in his leg and walked into the University of Chicago Hospital, where he is in "stable" condition, Greer said.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, Arron Feazell, 46, was fatally shot in East Garfield Park. A 17-year-old boy was also injured in the shooting.
