CHICAGO — A 14-year-old boy was killed in Marquette Park Thursday night, one of five people shot across the city's South Side.
About 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 6400 block of South Francisco Avenue and found the boy the ground, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.
The teen had been shot repeatedly and was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:42 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Officials there identified the boy as Kevin Diaz, of the 6200 block of South Francisco Avenue.
No one was in custody in connection with Diaz's murder as of Friday morning, but police said they believe the shooting is gang-related.
