MCKINLEY PARK — A videotaped beating of a man by a group of people — including one who is using a baseball bat — has some residents calling for jail time for the attackers.

The video, first posted on a Facebook page on Tuesday, was picked up by local Reddit users who are hoping to get the video into the hands of police. They say it happened in McKinley Park.

A police spokeswoman confirmed a fight did take place at the spacious Southwest Side park around noon Tuesday, but couldn't say whether it's the same incident shown in the video.

"We took a lot of phone calls saying there was a fight and people were running," said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

Police said three people were locked up for mob action after that incident, but a victim hasn't come forward.

A spokeswoman for 12th Ward Ald. George Cardenas said she had not seen the video and couldn't comment.

The video shows a daytime scrum in which several young men run away and appear to be chased.

Those left behind gang up on a baseball-bat wielding young man and blast him with punches and kicks. At one point, he's beaten with a bike lock and the baseball bat he was carrying.

The video has been shared on Facebook more than 60 times, with some of the original poster's friends chiming in to take credit.

One of the last comments on the video comes with a warning to get rid of the video evidence.

"Burn up," it says. "Take that video off" Facebook.
