CHICAGO — At least five people were shot, one fatally, in daytime incidents Wednesday.
A 38-year-old man was killed and a 40-year-old man was injured in an early afternoon shooting in Humboldt Park.
In a separate shooting in Brainerd, a 32-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were wounded in the 9100 block of South Throop Street at 5:20 p.m., police said.
The man was shot in his chest and back. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he is in critical condition.
The woman was shot in her leg and treated at the scene.
Both victims are documented gang members, police said.
Earlier, a 26-year-old man was shot in his leg in Ashburn.
The incident, which police said may have been gang-related, happened about 8:50 a.m. in the 8200 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
The victim was taken to Christ, where his condition had stabilized.
No one was in custody.
