Two Men Dead After Being Pulled from Lake Michigan

CHICAGO — Two men died after being pulled from Lake Michigan near 31st Street Beach Tuesday afternoon.

Divers and helicopters were sent to the beach to recover two people from the water at 3:52 p.m., according to fire officials. Two men were brought in critical condition to Mercy Hospital, where they both later died.

Ali Moufid, 36, of the 10000 block of South Mayfield Avenue in Oak Lawn, was pronounced dead at 4:20 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Otmane Kassou, 40, of the 5200 block of South 73rd Court in Summit, was pronounced dead at 4:24 p.m.

It was unclear why the men were in the water.
