17-Year-Old Boy Dead, Man Injured in Separate Shootings Monday

CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy was killed in an Ashburn shooting, and a man was hospitalized after a shooting in West Englewood Monday, officials said.

About 5:04 p.m., the teen was shot in his chest while in the 8400 block of South Kedzie Avenue, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.

The 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:10 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Officials there identified him as Kayshaun Hall, of the 2900 block of West 71st Street.

More details about the shooting were not available, Pachecho said.

Earlier, another man of an unknown age was shot in the 7300 block of South Damen Avenue.

About 11:40 a.m., the man was on the block when a car drove up and a passenger in the car fired shots, striking the man in his leg. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in stable condition, Pachecho said.
