CHICAGO — Police issued a community alert Monday after a man attempted to lure a 12-year-old boy last week in Lincoln Square.
Around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, the boy was walking in the 2100 block of West Farragut Avenue on his way to school when he passed a parked white cargo van on the street. A man in the driver's seat of the van asked the boy to come inside the vehicle, but the boy was able to escape, police said.
The man was a middle-aged white man with a light complexion. He had short dark hair with a beard. The van had scratches along the driver's side rear panel, police said.
