AUSTIN — A 52-year-old man has been charged with selling drugs out of a building that also houses a daycare, police said Saturday.

Police said they had set up surveillance of a two-flat in the 1600 block of North Monitor Ave. on Friday and "observed a narcotics transaction" between Keith Lee, 52, and another man, police said.

The building houses a daycare center in the basement.

After Lee allegedly made the transaction, he got into his car and drove away. Officers pulled Lee over and later searched an apartment in the North Monitor building where they found two guns and about 1,300 grams of pot, police said.

The value of the marijuana was pegged at $20,000.

A scale, "narcotics packaging," and about $2,700 in cash was also recovered from the apartment, police said.
