CHICAGO — Police have issued a community alert after a man tried to lure a girl into his car in Rogers Park earlier this week.

The girl, whose age was unavailable, was walking in the 6600 block of North Lakewood Avenue when a car pulled up about 3:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

The driver asked the girl, "Would you like a ride somewhere? Can I take you somewhere?," according to authorities. The girl refused and the man drove off, heading north on Lakewood.

Police said the driver was a 25- to 30-year-old black man wearing a black shirt with a colorful design on the chest. The man was described as "bulky" and "stout" and could be between 5-foot-8 and 6-feet tall. Officers put his weight at 200-220 pounds.

The man was driving a blue or green four-door car with a light-colored interior. The make and model are unknown.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call 312-744-8200.
