COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Police caught a man accused of holding up a Lakeview CVS Tuesday when he tried to make his escape in a taxi, authorities said.
The man walked into the CVS at 3101 N. Clark St., entered an aisle and pulled a shirt over his face to hide his identity, according to the report. He walked up to the cashier and handed him a hand-written note demanding money.
The man had his hand in his waistband as if concealing a gun, police said.
The cashier called for a supervisor who then brought "four bundles" of cash out from the store safe, according to the report. The robber took the money and exited the CVS to hail a cab.
The man was getting into a taxi on Diversey Parkway when police caught up to him, according to the report. Police found a rolled up newspaper in the man's pants but no gun.
Corey Wolfe, 26, was charged with aggravated robbery and ordered held on $150,000 bail by a Cook County judge on Wednesday.
Wolfe, who is out on bond in a pending drug case, admitted to police that he has a substance problem, police said.
"I went too far," Wolfe said, according to the police report.
