DOWNTOWN — It's a sure sign of spring: Buckingham Fountain is once again spraying towers of water along the lakefront.

The famous fountain was turned on Saturday morning, marking the beginning of its 87th season.

Kenwood Academy senior Char'Nese Turner, recipient of the 2014 Chicago Park District Junior Citizen Award, turned the fountain on, the Park District said.

The fountain will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. through the fall.
