PILSEN — A sculpture made in response to anti-gay comments surrounding a Honey Maid ad campaign will be on display this weekend at Pilsen's Lacuna Artist Lofts Studios.
Local artists INDO — Linsey Burritt and Crystal Hodges — helped create the sculpture, commissioned as a response to negative comments the company received after airing an ad featuring a family headed by a same-sex couple. The artists will be on hand Saturday.
The sculpture used thousands of rolled-up pieces of paper — containing the negative comments — to form the word "Love."
According to Honey Maid, a video about the Love Sculpture video has been viewed more than 3.8 million times.
Visitors who attend Saturday's event will also have the chance to write their own letters of support and add to the installation. The event is free and will be held at Lacuna Artist Lofts Studios, 2150 S. Canalport Ave. from 1-3 p.m.
