COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A fist fight in the 1500 block of West Fullerton Avenue almost turned deadly when a man involved pulled out a weapon and stabbed his 16-year-old adversary in the chest, prosecutors said.

Demetrio Hernandez, of the 2300 block of North Ashland Avenue, is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for stabbing his 16-year-old neighbor during a fight on March 29, prosecutors said.

The 16-year-old, who lives around the corner from Hernandez in the 2300 block of North Clybourn Street, suffered a punctured lung and a cardiac contusion, prosecutors said. He is recovering.

Hernandez was later identified by a witness, according to a police report. Court records did not indicate whether the weapon he allegedly used was a knife or some other sharp object.

Hernandez, who appeared in court Thursday wearing a "Goonies" T-shirt, was ordered held on $250,000 bail.
