One Killed, One Injured In South Chicago Crash

CHICAGO — One person was killed and another was injured in a car crash early Tuesday morning in the South Chicago neighborhood.

At about 4:30 a.m., two men were inside a car when it crashed into a tree in the 8200 block of South Yates Boulevard, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, was taken to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

The passenger, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition stabilized.

Further details surrounding the crash were not immediately available.
