ROGERS PARK — Ald. Joe Moore has called for a public meeting after a violent start to 2014 in Rogers Park.

The 49th Ward alderman said in an email to constituents that the meeting would "mark" the one-year anniversary of Rogers Park Police District Cmdr. Thomas Waldera's arrival.

Moore said Waldera and district police would attend the meeting to answer questions and concerns.

Since January when 17-year-old Markeyo Carr was gunned down in a Clark Street McDonald's parking lot, residents at neighborhood CAPS meetings have been vocal about safety concerns.

Moore had promised to convene a meeting to address them after 36-year-old Darnall Gordon and 16-year-old Keno Glass were gunned down north of Howard Street last month in separate incidents.

"Obviously, the shootings, they're also going to be a major topic, but it’ll be broader than that," Moore said Tuesday morning of the meeting.

The meeting is planned for 7 p.m. Monday at the Loyola Park field house, 1230 W. Greenleaf Ave.
