CHICAGO — A man was killed early Sunday when he ran across the Bishop Ford Expressway and was struck by a car.

A 22-year-old man tried to run across I-94 near 120th Street about 3 a.m., state police said, when he was hit by a tan 2007 Ford Taurus driving northbound in the far right lane.

The pedestrian, indentified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Lawill Gordon, of the 900 block of North Kedvale Avenue, was killed "due to the impact of the crash," state police said. It was unclear why Gordon was in the freeway.

State police closed the two farthest-right northbound lanes Sunday morning as they investigated.

No further information was immediately available.
