CHICAGO — A 29-year-old man was shot to death in Chatham early Sunday.

Police found the man unresponsive in the 900 block of East 81st Street about 7:15 a.m. He'd been fatally shot in his head and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Jabari Davis, and said he was killed in his home.

No further details were immediately available, and no one was in custody.

On Thursday, 34-year-old Jeromy Ellis was fatally shot just a couple blocks away in the 8000 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.

Residents said they were no longer surprised about violence in the neighborhood.

"I know it's not healthy, but it's the environment we live in," said a 23-year-old resident who didn't want to be named. "Ever since I was little, people used to come and go, come and go. You get used to it after a while."
