CHICAGO — An abandoned warehouse near Brighton Park caught fire Monday evening, officials said.

Fire officials responded to the fire in the 3600 block of South Homan Avenue around 6 p.m. Monday and halted traffic on nearby railroad tracks to help combat the fire.

Fire officials tweeted that the situation was "dangerous" and later said the "building [is] unsound" and that "roof trusses now sagging." The crews brought in a special fire-fighting apparatus able to deliver 5,000 gallons of water per minute.

Officials later said 130 firefighters using 41 pieces of equipment helped battle the blaze.

More information was not immediately available.
