CHICAGO — A Brighton Park crash killed two people and critically injured three others early Sunday.

A woman driving a silver sedan in the 3800 block of South Western Avenue lost control of her car and struck a viaduct support beam about 3:15 a.m., said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

The driver, identified as Claudia de Jesus, 27, of Oak Forest, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

A male passenger, identified as Richard Rogers of the 1600 block of West Cullom Avenue, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital. Police said Rogers was 33 years old, but the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office listed his age as 32.

Three other passengers were listed in critical condition at Stroger Hospital: two 34-year-old women and a 31-year-old man.

The cause of the accident was still unknown Sunday morning, Sedevic said. Police from the major accidents unit are investigating.
