CHICAGO — A string of fires that were apparently set in Bridgeport Thursday morning left one firefighter hurt, officials said.

Around 4 a.m., firefighters were called to a garage fire in the 3600 block of South Wallace Street. When they arrived, they discovered two garages on fire in the area, said Larry Langford, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

One firefighter was injured while extinguishing the blaze and taken to Mercy Hospital, where he's expected to recover, Langford said.

Just two hours later, crews responded to another garage fire about a mile away in the 3200 block of South Morgan Street. Crews extinguished the fire without injuries, Langford said.

All three of the fires were "incendiary," and police are investigating, he said.
