CHICAGO — An Avalon Park man was shot dead in a South Austin gangway Friday night, police said.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Trevolus Pickett by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, was shot in his head about 11:15 p.m. in the 5200 block of West Congress Parkway, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

Pickett was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m. Saturday.

The shooting may have been gang-related as Pickett had a known gang affiliation, Estrada said.
