NORTH CENTER — The Easter Bunny's going to need an extra hop in his step to get around to all the egg hunts scheduled in the area this weekend.

The Northcenter Chamber of Commerce's Eggstravaganza kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs through 1 p.m., Saturday, 4100 N. Damen Ave. The event includes an egg hunt at local businesses followed by a party in Town Square, complete with refreshments and a visit from Peter Cottontail.

Not to be outdone, Chase Park, 4701 N. Ashland Ave., has an eggstravaganza of its own, from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, featuring an egg hunt for kids 10 and under, face painting, arts and crafts and a photo op with the Easter Bunny.

Winnemac Park, 5101 N. Leavitt St., will play host to not one, but two egg hunts: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday for kids 12 and under at the park's playground; and another at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Hollywood Park, 3312 W. Thorndale Ave., offers separate egg hunts for children of different ages, as well as arts and crafts and a $1 raffle. The egg hunt schedule for Saturday: 10:15 a.m. for kids 2 and under; 10:30 a.m. for kids ages 3-5; 10:45 a.m. for kids 6-8; and 11 a.m. for kids 9-10.

The safest bet for fun takes place at the Foster District Police station, 5400 N. Lincoln Ave., from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.Easter bags will be provided for children ages 8 and under to collect their eggs — no outside bags allowed. A bake sale will be held in the station's lobby, with proceeds benefiting youth activities.
