CHICAGO — An "elderly gentleman" was beaten and robbed in Lincoln Park early Sunday, according to officials at DePaul University.
The man was walking in the 900 block of West Belden Avenue about 5:45 a.m. when someone walked up to him and demanded his belongings, the school said in a safety alert.
The attacker struck the man and took his wallet before jumping into a white SUV and driving east on Belden. A DePaul student who saw the incident yelled for help, the school said, which may have caused the attacker to leave.
Chicago police have classified the incident as an aggravated robbery.
