Things to Do in Lincoln Park and Old Town this Weekend

Friday

Family Night: All Aboard! at Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., 6-9 p.m.

At this railroad-themed family night, parents and kids will listen to folk music, play train bingo and create railroad lanterns. A family photo booth prints souvenir photos. One adult is required for every three kids, and the evening is designed for families with children ages 6-12. Admission is $5 for kids and $10 for adults (or $5 for museum members). Moody and the Mellow at the Tonic Room, 2447 N. Halsted St., 8 p.m.

Moody and the Mellow will bring music back to its folk, Americana and rock roots when they hit the Tonic Room stage. The Gasper Ghoul and the Dirty Generals will also perform. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The Pod (a Ween tribute band) will perform a separate show at the venue at 11 p.m. Tickets for each show are $8.

Colt Ford at Joe's Bar on Weed Street, 940 W. Weed St., 8:30 p.m.

The star from Georgia blends his Country roots with hip-hop for a unique sound. Tickets for the 21-and-over show are $15. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Saturday

Second Saturdays at Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

In this Second Saturday activity, the museum invites kids and their families to imagine what Chicago looked like before it became a city. Learn about giant flowers and rolling fields. The event is included in museum admission, which is free for those 12 and under. 

J.J. & Dre at the Tonic Room, 2447 N. Halsted St., 8 p.m.

The versatile group brings a rock feel saturated with soul to the Tonic Room. Black Diet and Leeloo Dallas Multipass will also perform. Tickets for the 21-and-older event are $8.

7th Annual TMDI Flip Cup Tournament at Joe's Bar on Weed St., 940 W. Weed St., noon-4 p.m.

Relive the glory days of indulgence at the benefit for Clearbrook and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Team Monkey and Drinking Illini Flip Cup Tournament will consist of 64 teams of four or five people competing in a double-elimination, bracket-style format. Prizes awarded for best name, best uniform and best team. Tickets are $40 per entry or $160 for a team of 5. Register by sending team information to admin@chicagoflipcuptourney.com.

Sunday

Cubs N' Pubs at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., 1:20 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Celebrate Wrigley Field turning 100 with a walking tour of the Wrigleyville saloons hosted by tavern historian, Liz Garibay. Stay hydrated while you talk Cubbies, the neighborhood and Wrigley Field. Tickets for the pub crawl are $40 for non-members and $30 for members.

Bishop City Presents: Return of the Real at the Tonic Room, 2447 N. Halsted St., 8 p.m.

Castro, S.B.E., Brandon James, The Boy Illinois, Spade Gucci, J. McSwain, Izaiah SoDope, Gittaa Thomas, Rack Squad Shakey, Prelude to a Million and Melodic Muzik will all perform live. Cover for the 21-and-older event is $5 before 10 p.m. and $7 after.

Speed Rack at Joe's on Weed Street, 940 W. Weed St., 3 p.m.

The final stop for Speed Rack Season 3 is at Joe's. Sample cocktails and food from local eateries as the women compete for Ms. Speed Rack. Tickets for the bartending competition are $20 each. Must be 21 or older to enter. All proceeds from the competition go towards breast cancer research, education and prevention.
