Firefighter Among 4 Injured in Friday Morning Fires

CHICAGO — Some 20 people were displaced after two fires broke out on the South Side early Friday morning.

Around 5:48 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire on the first and second floors of a building in the 7800 block of South Colfax Avenue in South Shore.

Four people were injured in the fire including a firefighter, another adult and two children. Ten adults and seven minors were displaced as a result of the fire, according to fire officials.

The firefighter was taken to Trinity Hospital with minor injuries. The adult and two children were taken to South Shore hospital in an unknown condition, according to fire officials.

Around 5:30 a.m., a fire was reported in a two-story home in the 4500 block of South Woodlawn Avenue in North Kenwood. No injuries were reported in the fire, but three people were displaced as a result, according to fire officials.
