CHICAGO — Prepare for another weekend of interrupted "L" service and traffic closures as the CTA Blue Line rehab between the Western and Damen stops continues for a second weekend.

From 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, "L" lines between the two Bucktown and Wicker Park-area stations will be shut down along with some neighboring streets as part of the CTA's $492 million project to modernize the O'Hare line.

Traffic will be closed along North Avenue between Milwaukee and Hoyne avenues this weekend, and No. 72 North Avenue buses will be detoured during the construction, according to the CTA.

Free shuttle buses will be available throughout the work, according to the CTA, which asks commuters to allow 15-20 minutes of extra time for trips this weekend.

Work that is expected to close certain sections of the Blue Line for 10 weekends between March and August includes replacing old parts on the elevated track between the Damen and Logan Square stops.

The next shut down is scheduled again between the Western and Damen stops from the evening of April 25 through the early hours of April 27.

The overhaul of the line affects stations between Grand and O’Hare and is scheduled to be completed in the next four years.
