Two Dead, 24 Wounded in Shootings Since Friday

CHICAGO — Three people were shot overnight, adding to a violent weekend of shootings that left 24 wounded and a 16-year-old athlete from Simeon and a 30-year-old West Garfield Park man dead.

The most recent shooting occurred just after midnight Monday.

Around 12:20 a.m., a 32-year-old woman was shot multiple times when she was walking with two men in the 5900 block of South Campbell Avenue in Chicago Lawn. Two men fired shots at the group from across the street, hitting the woman, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The injured woman was taken in serious condition to Christ Hospital with wounds in her shoulder, thigh and buttocks. No others were injured in the shooting, Greer said

In other shootings:

• Around 10:55 p.m. Sunday, a 29-year-old man was driving in the 4600 block of West Division Street in West Humboldt Park when another car approached and someone inside fired shots. The man walked into West Suburban Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his stomach. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Greer said.

• Around 9 p.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man n the 3500 block of West Cullom Avenue in Irving Park was approached by a man who fired shots, striking the 20-year-old in his stomach. He ran into a nearby home and was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition. The shooter got into a car that drove northbound through an alley, Greer said.

Also over the weekend:

Michael Flournoy, 16, a sophomore wrestler and football player at Simeon High School, was fatally shot on his way to the store Saturday in Burnside. Six others were wounded in shootings from Saturday night into Sunday afternoon.

Jordan Harris, 30, of the 3000 block of West Jackson Boulevard, was killed and five others were wounded in a shooting at a West Garfield Park party. They were among 16 people injured in shootings Friday night into Saturday afternoon.
