CHICAGO — A Little Village man has been charged with the 2010 shooting death of a 22-year-old woman, authorities said.

Luis Padin, 23, of the 2600 block of West Luther Street, is facing charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jennifer Alvarado.

On Sept. 6, 2010, Alvarado was sitting in a car with another person in the 2700 block of West 24th Street when Padin pulled up next to them and asked what their gang affiliation was, police said.

Alvarado and the driver ignored the question and as they pulled away, Padin allegedly opened fire on the car, striking Alvarado in the back.

She was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Padin was arrested about 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, police said. He is due in bond court Friday.
