WEST ENGLEWOOD — A 58-year-old man is in serious condition after he was attacked by four pit bulls Saturday morning in the West Englewood neighborhood, police said.

The man was attacked by the dogs at 9:50 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Wood Street, said Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti, a police spokeswoman.

He was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital with injuries to his leg, Ursitti said.

An off-duty officer on the scene shot and killed one of the dogs. The other three were taken by animal control officials, police said.
