CHICAGO — A FedEx driver and a 19-year-old man were shot in the Oakland neighborhood Friday evening, the company and police said.

The incident occurred in the 4100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue about 6:37 p.m., police said.

A gunman in a vehicle shot at the man numerous times.

The Fedex employee, a 48-year-old woman, was shot twice in her right leg and was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

"Our thoughts are with our employee and her family during this difficult time and we wish her a speedy recovery," said Scott Fiedler, a FedEx spokesman, in a statement. "FedEx would like to thank the first responders and hospital for their work to assist our employee."

The man was shot in his left arm and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, police said.

The incident may have been gang-related with the woman being an unintended target, police said.

Five others, including a man shot by an off-duty police officer, were wounded Friday. One man was killed in Washington Heights. Six people were wounded in shootings overnight Saturday.
