'Benchwarmer Bandit' Robs Fourth North Side Bank

CHICAGO — The man known as the Benchwarmer Bandit struck again Saturday, robbing his fourth North Side bank in two weeks.

This time he robbed the Citibank at 3128 N. Ashland Ave., the FBI said.

The man entered the bank around 10:10, and passed a teller a note demanding cash, police said. The teller complied, and the man left the bank with an undetermined amount of money.

The man is described as Hispanic, in his late 20s or early 30s, standing 5-foot-9 to 6-feet tall. He generally wears a hooded jacket or sweatshirt.

The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for his capture. On March 16, he robbed the TCF Bank at 3531 N. Broadway. On March 21, he robbed the TCF Bank at 4355 N. Sheridan Road. Three days later, he hit a TCF Bank at 2940 N. Ashland Ave., the FBI said.
