CHICAGO — Blue Line service to O'Hare is expected to resume Sunday, CTA officials said Friday evening.

The station has been closed since Monday morning when a train barreled past the end of the track, careening up an escalator, injuring 35. The train operator admitted to dozing off before the train crashed before 3 a.m. Monday.

"The CTA is working around the clock to restore service at the O’Hare Blue Line station and is currently making station repairs at O’Hare to tracks, platforms and staircases," the agency said in a statement. An precise opening time will be announced later this weekend, officials said.

The crash caused $6 million in damage, and was followed by several lawsuits.

On Friday, a union official said the train operator had worked 69 hours the week before the crash.
