Things to Do this Weekend in Lincoln Park

CHICAGO — Among the events on this weekend's agenda in Lincoln Park, Whole Foods is offering tips to keep your New Year's Resolution of eating healthy and PigPen Theatre Co. will perform at Lincoln Hall.

Friday:

Maintaining Your Healthy Eating New Year’s Resolution Through Indian Cooking at Whole Foods, 1550 N. Kingsbury St., noon-1 p.m.

Cookbook author Anupy Singla gives tips on how to make a vegetarian Indian bean stew with cashew-spiced basmati rice. Singla will also give a lesson in lentils, including how to pick out the right ones and cook them in a slow cooker or on the stove. The class is $10, and Singla will also be offering a Saturday class.

PigPen Theatre Co. with The Spring Standards at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 9 p.m.

Music, film and theater group PigPen Theatre Co. perform at Lincoln Hall along with indie rock band The Spring Standards. The show, for those 18 and older, is $14.

Saturday:

Animal Art at Lincoln Park Zoo, 2001 N. Clark St., 9:30 a.m.

The zoo is hosting a painting party inside the lion house, where artists 8 years old and up can use the lions as models for their canvases. The zoo will provide canvases, brushes, paints, easels and even professionals from Bridgeport's Wet Paint Chicago to help Michelangelos-in-training. To top it all off, there will be a cash bar serving mimosas, bloody marys and wine for the adults. The event is $50 for zoo members and $55 for non-members. Participants must buy their tickets before March 28.

Family Fun Fair — Beach Blowout at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness, 1320 W. Fullerton Ave., 2-4 p.m.

Pretend it's summer as the sport and fitness center hosts a beach-themed fair that includes an obstacle course and limbo, among other games. Anyone who registers for a summer camp at the fair gets 5 percent off the price of camp. The event is free to members and $10 for non-members.

Australian indie band Boy & Bear and Portland, Ore. band Dresses perform during this $15 show. Tickets are for those 21 and older.
