CHICAGO — Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in West Town.
A 33-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while walking in the road in the 400 block of North Aberdeen Street at 4:51 Saturday afternoon, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.
The vehicle that hit him fled, and police have no description.
The victim, identified as Shane Stokowski, of the 1100 block of West Belmont Avenue, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was declared dead at 5:18 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said. An autopsy conducted Sunday determined Stokowski died of head injuries, and classified his death as a homicide.
The Chicago Police Departement's Major Accidents Unit is investigating, Pacheco said.
