MCKINLEY PARK — Mariano's Fresh Market and a Southwest Side social service agency have teamed up for a job fair to help staff the grocery chain's new store at 3145 S. Ashland Ave.

The job fair is scheduled for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Instituto del Progreso Latino, 2520 S. Western Ave.

Organizers of the event say they're looking for entry-level and experienced workers for a variety of positions. Candidates will meet one-on-one with a recruiter.

"Applicants with all types of experience — not just grocery — are equally considered, including professionals from the restaurant, catering and other hospitality industries," Mariano's said in a news release.

All told, the new store, which is set to replace the shuttered Dominick's location, will hire around 350 workers.

Instituto del Progreso Latino is a decades-old resource agency for the city's Latino community that offers services like job training, adult education services and programs for kids.

An opening date for the store hasn't been announced, but the store's pharmacy is already open and accepting new customers.
