CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy is charged with attempted murder after stabbing another teen who refused to join a gang, police said.

Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, the teen was among a group of people who attacked a 15-year-old  boy in the 2700 block of South Homan Avenue in Little Village while trying to recruit him into a gang, police said.

During the fight, the 15-year-old was stabbed in the neck, robbed and then tossed into a dumpster. The boy was in critical condition after the stabbing, police said.

Police found the 16-year-old and charged him with attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, battery and gang recruitment of a minor.
